"The Golden Compass" came out just today in theatres and my mom promised me when we heard that His Dark Materials was being made into moves, that we would go see it the first day. so we did. Unfortunatley. And crowds were not the factor here, ladies and gentlemen, no no. It was the movie itself.
My mom and I were expecting for a good movie, not that into detail, like the book, but still not so dull as it seems to have been made. The books quality was so poorly portrayed here, that I don't even see how Phillip Pullman was there to help direct it. Has he read his book lately?
So many things were taken out of the movie, which I can understand, because full detail and I would have been in that movie for 3 hours. But when Roger doesn't even die in the end due to Lord Asriels expirements on the mountain that cold chilly night, audiences are left thinking that he is going to live in the next movie.
This movie is a candy coated version of its real self. My dear audience, please save your self the time of seeing this disenegrating movie, and reward yourself by reading the books. I promise you'll be pleased far more than you would have if you had seen the movie.
